3 Mistakes You Make After A Porn Addiction Relapse (Avoid These)

Today we are going to look at 3 mistakes many guys make after a porn relapse and these are big mistakes.

So, if you recognize yourself in some of them, do your best to stop doing them right away because they will seriously hold you back on your NoFap journey.

Porn relapse mistake #1 Not writing down how the relapse happened...

When you relapse you have to sit down the very same day and write down why and how it happened.

It actually amazes me how few of the people reaching out to me for help are doing this.

Listen, I’m not saying you should beat yourself up about the relapse, because you shouldn’t and I’ll talk more about that in a second, but you can’t just shrug your shoulders and say, "Ah well, let’s hope it doesn’t happen again!", because hoping is not enough.

Rebooting takes real effort and you have to put in the work if you ever want to get somewhere. 

After a porn relapse, you need to analyze what went wrong...

You need to analyze what went wrong and not only that, you need to write it down, because this will make it 5x more likely that you remember and learn from it than if you just were to shrug your shoulders and move on.

This is how you could do it...

After a relapse, write down and answer these three questions:

  • What led me to the relapse?
  • What mistakes did I make?
  • What could I have done instead?

This will help you remember and avoid making the same mistakes in the future.

And if you’re not doing this, well that really is a big mistake.

It  wasn’t until I started doing this that I started to see vast improvements in my own rebooting a few years back.

Porn relapse mistake #2 Beating yourself up after a relapse...

 

Ok, so now some of you go, "Hey, you just told us to not just shrug our shoulders and keep going and be more serious, what the hell this then!?!"

Well, I sure did, but I said you should write it down and take it seriously.

I didn’t say that you should beat yourself up if you relapse, because the fact is...

The more you beat yourself up after a relapse the worse your self esteem is going to get, and the worse your self esteem the more you will feel a need to escape yourself! And let me ask you this, what’s the first escape route an addict finds? Well that’s right, he escapes into the very thing he is addicted to.

Get rid of the shame cycle...

So many guys keep spinning their wheels in this shame cycle, so I repeat, do not beat yourself up after a relapse.

Instead do something productive by doing what I just told you about writing it down.

Porn relapse mistake #3:  Coming up with a new rebooting plan that is too strict...

Now, it’s normal to want to try to modify your rebooting plan a bit after a relapse, and there is nothing wrong with that.

In fact, it might be needed, but many guys feel so bad after a relapse that they try to overcompensate making a new rebooting plan that is way too hard. 

Now, obviously this ties in with mistake number 2, and they do it because they feel so bad about themselves that they think, "If I make my next streak a super streak then this relapses was actually good for me"...

And so they say I’m going to...

  • start an online business
  • go take dance classes 
  • I’m going to run for 1 hour every single day
  • meditate for 2 hours
  • take 2 cold showers every day
  • quit smoking
  • go to the gym 5 days a week.

...oh man, no you're not!

Good luck with that because that’s way too much.

Building new habits is not easy...

Building new habits is hard so you have to start slowly and build up to it or else it will come crashing down on you and so you’ll feel like a loser again.

You have to set up goals and rules for yourself that you know you will be able to do even when those really bad days roll around because trust me, they will come.
