Now, we are all different and there are certainly many ways of doing this, but the fact is, if you have a very messy life, it becomes way harder than it has to be.

So, yesterday evening, I was aimlessly browsing online again. Oh well, not really, or in a way, yes, because I was relaxing. But at least this time, it was on a good website, a good old Your Brain On.

I was reading NoFap success stories, and as I was sitting there, reading story after story, I once again saw a very clear pattern. Something that almost all successful NoFappers have in common. Now, before I share what it is, let's first just define what I mean when I say "successful NoFapper."

What do I mean by successful Nofapper?

Do I mean successful as in getting success in life in general, or successful as in managing to stop relapsing to adult sites?

Well, I was thinking mostly about the second part here, but actually both. And now that I share the common denominator, that's pretty easy to understand, really.

Almost all successful NoFappers have a journey where they are cleaning up their life significantly, and not just cleaning up as in they stopped doing stupid things, but almost all of them also add a lot of good things as well. Well, now we have talked about this before, but I do not think it's possible to overdo it here because it's just so important.

You have to clean up your life if you want to successfully quit porn...

Stop doing stupid things and then set a few strong goals for yourself that you will keep working on on a daily basis. Change your identity from being a slacker, a party animal, a lazy procrastinator, to being someone who earns his sofa time.

Yes, you see, that's the key. Earning your sofa time. Because I'm not saying we can't enjoy digital recreation like video games, Netflix, and so on, but we have to earn them by first doing the hard things that take concentration and take a bit of effort.

And you know this already. I mean, even if you're someone who doesn't think about it on a conscious level, just how good does your sofa time feel if you don't do anything of value all day long? If you're just lying there, eating donuts, playing video games, and watching adult sites?

How good does your sofa time feel?

Have you ever felt that sense of, "Hey, I have all these good things here, all the pleasure, yet I feel like complete and utter crap"?

Well, there you go.

Dopamine is there to make you motivated to go for things that will make your life better...

And by the way, if you didn't know, this is exactly how your dopamine system is supposed to work. Dopamine is there to motivate you to go for things that will make your life better, like, for example, getting a partner, and then you get the reward after that.

But if you do it the other way around, you short-circuit that system so that it completely blows up on you, making your life miserable.

Kind of like you do when you're getting off to adult sites. You give yourself the reward first, making it absolutely pointless for the dopamine system to give you any drive to go out there, talking to girls, achieving anything of value, and so on.

So, a short one today, but as I said, I don't think that this can be overstated.

And you know what?

I also include myself in the group of people who I'm giving advice to because no one is perfect. We all need to grow, and we're all on this dopamine journey together.
