Testosterone Spike On Day 7 Of Abstinence (Did You Know This?)

Do you know what happens to your testosterone levels on day 7 of abstinence from ejaculation?

If you are a guy who likes doing NoFap then you need to know what happens on day 7.

Yes, if you’re not aware of this by now then check out this graph. This graph is from a Chinese study made on 28 men parctising abstinence from ejaculation.

145% testosterone increase on day 7

The researchers found that the increase in testosterone levels from the 2nd to 5th day of abstinence were very small, but on the 7th day of abstinence, however, a clear peak of serum testosterone appeared, reaching 145.7% of the baseline.

So what does this mean?

Well, it means that for many guys day 7 is usually a day of intense cravings and many guys have big problems with relapsing here.

Now it’s a bit different and some guys notice the intensified cravings on day 6 or day 8 but the key thing is that most guys do experience something going on right around here. 

Now the reasons why I think every guy doing NoFap should know this is of course so that they can take precautions when approaching day 7. 

The huge increase in testosterone levels on day 7 does often also increase your energy levels.

Use the increase in energy on productive things...

Why not make day 7 a day when you do a small dopamine detox and take a complete rest from technology. Shut down your computer, turn off your phone and try to spend the whole day outside in nature.

Go for a run and some hiking, go for a swim. Use this day of extra energy to use your muscles.

Yeah why not make day 7 a day of doing badass things, you know, kind of like your ancestors did?

Go to the gym, or better yet, go out and lift some stones or go for a swim and just try to spend the whole day in nature. 

Make day 7 a "no screen day"...

If this is not possible right now where you live, you can at least make day 7 a day when you decide not spend your time with aimless browsing online.

You’ll get the brain benefits of taking a timeout from all the high stimulating technology in combination with the reduced risk of relapsing because you are spending time outside.

Androgen receptors at play as well?

Now for some reason a lot of guys do also experience a second wave of cravings around day 14 or 15.

The reason for this is a bit unclear, but personally I suspect it could have something to do with the androgen receptors being upregulated right around here.

Those are receptors that the testosterone lock onto and having more of them probably means that your testosterone can do its job more effectively.

So why not take another timeout on day 14 and 15? Even if no extra urges decides to pop up, so what?, taking a timeout from technology it’s still a very healthy thing to do for your brain.
